The Vanguard VM-842C monitor mount works fantastic. The construction of the product is very excellent. It is thick cast metal that is very sturdy. All of the pivot points work smoothly. In the small time I’ve had the stand, I’ve used it with a 15″ standard LCD flat panel & 18.5″ widescreen LCD flat panel and it worked fantastic with both monitors.
Installation and assembly was extremely simple.
Fully extended the monitor projects out approximately 19.25″ from the back edge of the desk that the stand is mounted on. If I push it in as far as I can the monitor is approximately 14.5″ from the back edge of the desk.
Fantastic product and I would certainly recommend it.

When I first started shopping for a monitor mount most of the reviews I read mentioned the fact that other similar mounts were constructed very poorly. So much so the the mounts were weak at the joints and became really useless to the buyer. This product but is not in that category at all. This is a solidly well constructed monitor mount with no weakness whatsoever. In fact it is the strongest monitor mount I have ever personally seen. Both my father and my brother bought monitor arms and both despise them because of their poor construction. This arm is worth every penny. It is built to withstand an earthquake…probably, and is strong in every joint yet flexible enough to allow you to position your monitor in any place or position you desire. Because the monitor is very much on sale from Amazon it is a steal at this price! Anyway, buy it!
My only complaint…I wish the height could be raised just a small bit. The black also matched my black monitor, not necessary but nice.

The mount works fantastic. It is quite heavy and stiff, but the entire arm swings in and out easily, which is what I needed. It also has the ability to position the monitor very high, the bottom of my monitor is about a foot above my desk. The cable mounting system is a set of zip ties, my monitor is large enough that i dont see the wires much at all. My desk is now completely empty except for a wireless mouse/keyboard, no more books with a monitor stand taking up half the space.
Bottom Line: SUPERB VALUE.

this arm is just as discribed – I use it to swing my computer screen in place while I am in my recliner. It has many adjustments to allow it to get into just the right angle. It stays in place exactly as positioned.

This is a high quality monitor mount arm. It’s easily adjustable, and lets you rotate your monitor. It frees up room on my desk. Simple to install, is solid, and looks fantastic! I’d recommend this to anyone.

packaging missed some parts

excellent monitor arm. i don’t have to drill it into my desk to hold a 17 inch monitor. The only reason why it doesn’t get a 5 from me is because the packaging missed some parts. i.e screws. I had to reuse the ancient ones to place my monitor on.

I now have three of these…
Strong contstruction – yes tilt down can be stiff but that prevents from moving back down easily it is VERY simple with a two handed movement.
Holds the monitors in place and can easily swing out of the way or go so others can view screen.
The third monitor is frequently used by family at different times so it is being went a lot and it is one I bought at least 6mos ago… still strong and in place where clamped to desk.
I compared many different ones thinking the price others were listing seemed to be too much for intent. I initially expected, for the price, might be small weak or cheap construction – not so very strong quality construction.
Not the case with this product, it is strong and well made… I bought the first two about six months ago and then the most recent one. All came with necessary parts and packaged as expected to keep protected during shipping. Very satisfied with all.
defective product

i bought this item, it was well constructed but the only issue was the flat plate the monitor connects to,
did not freely tilt up or down for adjustment of the monitor screen. so i finished up returning this item.
i was quit disappointed as i hoped to use this product. i would not recommend this product until they right
the flaw in the design.
Excellent, solid construction

I’m very impressed with this product. For the price, you can’t go incorrect ($40 on sale for me). The construction is solid, it comes with 16 different screws (4 types x 4 each), so it will fit virtually any VESA 75 or VESA 100 monitor out-of-the-box. The clamp mount is stable and has a retaining screw that is optional but highly recommended. I’m really pushing the limits of this stand with a 26″ monitor (25.5″ viewable) that is VESA 100 but still within the 18 pound weight limit.
A couple very small issues — at the high end of the weight scale, the tilt adjustment seems very loose and tends downward (contrast to the one-star review that says it’s too tight!). Clearly, it needs to have tension adjustment. As long as it holds though, it’s ok.
The other issue is that the arm does not fold up very compactly. It only folds to a 90-degree angle at each joint, so the difference between completely extended and folded isn’t that fantastic. I have a standard 30″ deep desk, and the stand puts the monitor a minimum of 16.5″ in your face. That puts this 25.5″ beast about 13″ from my face, which is a small bit like an IMAX experience. I could very easily place the monitor farther back on my desk using the stand it came with. Really wish you could take a link out of it… which I might really try but would probably need a jackhammer for this stand. Very well built… just larger and longer than I expected.
Perhaps take that 10″ to 20″ size recommendation seriously, if not for the weight, then because a larger monitor will be too close unless you have a VERY deep desk.
